I Want To Believe

(Revised)

Angels never twist the truth, but Kacy lies, insisting I fell head over heels for her sweet voice. She says she is a dime piece. I blush and roll my eyes hard enough to split heaven wide open. Taken aback, she accuses me of not believing the words spilling through her lips. I tell her not to flatter herself. But the truth is far from my lips’ reach. I ruminate over Ms. Innocent’s innocence. Kacy explains her affairs (or lack thereof) through tears that spread across her cheeks. The truth is that everything about Kacy is true. And unlike me, she knows it’s true. Kacy said she loves me, and I believe it’s true. The liar is returning my stare in the smudged bathroom mirror.
