Whatever she sees in me,
I wish I saw the same qualities.
I grew up on the side of the tracks
she’d never visited.
She attended school on the side of town
that I could only dream about visiting.
Our worlds collided like a train wreck;
we couldn’t put distance between us.
Our fates became intertwined,
and we found ourselves at a cabin
beyond either side of the tracks,
solidifying our commitment to each other
by exchanging insurance policies for rings
and signing a lifelong contract
with free repairs included.
