Speak Deeper

I found a reason to dig,
dig deep down inside of me.
Hannah would bat my hand away
albeit for a stable embrace.
I can’t change the person I was,
of which she heard rumors from her sister,
before we locked eyes at the coffee shop.
The torment of isolation revolved
around confusion when she sat next to me
in the banality of my ambitions,
speaking became a chore.
I found myself stuck in a monotonous
and inhospitable environment.
Love’s weight had me struggling
to keep my head above water
amid a tumultuous storm.
Despite the tumult around us,
I am intent on preserving Hannah’s vision
until the clouds dissipate,
allowing us to build a deeper connection
outside of the voices of our insecurity.
We speak of the deeper connection
life has to offer lovers, but only if we are together.
