Faith In Waiting

My hands bleed from holding onto faith,
yearning for a lover’s footsteps to amble with mine.
She’d embrace her sarcasm.
She’d apologize for nothing that she believed.
She’d draw tears with laughter over dark humor.
She’d have an angel’s soul and fix my flaws.
The woman would arrive on time.
The hours aligned with an autumn sunset that
revealed innocence in her deep blue eyes.
The conversation with a woman beside me
told me she was the one.
