I sat over a beer at a cafe.
Stood up for another date
over another late-night wait.
I’ll die alone.
I just know it.
The sting of emptiness
crawls the length of my spine.
I waited, but Beth failed to show.
I guess I’ll die alone
in an old folk’s home.
I wore my best with a splash
of Escape along my collar.
Getting ready to leave, I noticed
a woman sitting alone in the corner.
I guess I won’t go home alone.
