Wedding Nerves

Time was of the essence,
but no one seemed to know.
It must have slipped her mind;
it almost did mine.
I bargained for more
than I expected.
I could have left
with my pride intact.
The starvation of her love
would’ve deleted my world
from knowing whether
she’d even show.
I arrived at a church
beside myself
because there she is,
and here I am,
and there’s the preacher.
