Dead Mother’s Approval

The shudders
rattle with
the door
slam behind
your entry
way, away
with whispers
of rumors
regarding infidelity.

Tell me
what you
did in
the dark.

I feel
it in
my bones
something, you
did something
with someone.

Tell me
before I
bury you
in my
vicious misery.

You visited
your mom’s
grave before
asking me,
asking what?

You told
your mother
you were
going to
ask for
my hand
in marriage
before you
even asked.

I guess
I owe
my dilapidated
memory an
easy apology.
