Peace Over Letters

A letter, post-war,
in the drawer you
haven’t read means more
to me than life.
Bruised and broken, we
come and go fighting
on the damn phone
far away from home.
Penned words in red
urgently speaks for pain
in my regretful voice;
the tone pokes holes
in my selfless desperation.
The terror of losing
urges me never to
give up on you,
not without a fight.
