You’re Not Innocent

Don’t blame me.
I heard you
call my name.
I’m only here
to collect affection.

Don’t threaten me.
Besides, what’s calling
the police going
to do, silly?

Don’t ignore me.
I heard you
call my name.
You wanted me
more than I
ever wanted you.

You’re the reason
I left home,
my home, our
home that’s dying
with a silence
of buried secrets.

Don’t play me.
Why’d you call?
Ready to apologize?
You want honesty?
Absent your essence
I can’t sleep
without your presence.

Don’t play house
Home isn’t home,
not without you.

I stupidly cheated.
I am sorry.
Louder, you say?
I am sorry!

Don’t you forget
you helped me
bury her body?
I’m sure an
anonymous tip might
spark their curiosity.
Not that I’d
call them, though.

(If you like the poem, could you please like the poem? If not, cool too. Have a great day!)
