Compliment Me Or Die

Suspicious envy escaped Sara’s lips
through an apprehensive sigh.
Sara crinkled her eyes,
focusing on what I said last night.
She knitted her hands into fists,
beaming me down as I bathed
in the essence of her countenance.
A silence baked in my eyes before
I fed her compliments.
Her eyebrows lifted, high and rounded,
giving me an aloof grin.
I bit my tongue, holding my breath
with anxiety.
I gave her an approachable gaze.
Sara tapped her cheek,
bit her bottom lip and closed
the distance between us.
