A Spring Crush

Spring conversations usher
potential summer suitors.
She sheds infatuation
like a flat stone
skips over ripples
at a creek
that well reflects
her serene grin
to a sparkle
under a breath,
not a touch
now we’re even.
Stolen cigarettes burn
time in which
we’ll reluctantly swap
kisses, strolling along
the Cherry bridge
to lose our
humility beneath blossoming,
shady maple trees.
