If I Stay

It’s the stress
that’s my guess
I can’t feel
a goddamn thing.

Doctors said
placebos had
their place
in a
wishing well
with the
wish, I
wish you
very well.

Standing on
a cliff
that doesn’t
appear as
close as
the cracked
rear view
mirror seems.

My downcast
stare adjusts
the pain
my heart
transfers to
my brain.

The ledge
just below
disturbs me.

If I
stay or
If I
go, no one
will know.
