I washed shyness down,
sipping cheap white wine.
Innocent enough to touch,
we rested by the fireplace
near the couch,
melting the quiver in her lower lip.
As if in a drought,
her mouth watered,
giving me an unbreakable eye contact.
I swallowed my insecurity.
I ran my finger along her cheek.
Hot.
She’s burning up.
It’s only a touch.
Relax, it’s only love.
Forever I’ll exchange
the look in her eyes for
an eternity without the
voice of another lover.
