Assumptions in Forests

I blew her ringtone off its rhythm
after she gave me a piece of advice
to take a hike — the trails along the mountain
resembled the green of her eyes, watering my pupils.
A whiff of forest air invigorated me.
With a mental note, I recorded the endless trees
and what they meant to me.
A tug on the back of my shirt left me shaken.
She’s behind me, telling me she’d left her phone at home.
