Sara’s CEO

“Is that any way to talk to a CEO?” Matt said, resting his hands on his hips.
“But you’re a fucking teacher, dude,” Sara said.
“Not anymore.”
“You’re unemployed in this economy?” Sara gave him a befuddled stare.
“I applied for a job.”
“Heard back?”
“Still waiting.”
Sara lowered her head to her monitor and pecked at the keys.
“Going to ask where I applied?”
Sara stretches her back. “Where’d you apply?”
“Well, I have my resume, but I’m waiting to turn it in.”
“What the fuck are you waiting for, dude?”
“You.”
Sara threw her hand to her chest. “Waiting on me for?”
“To be the CEO of your life.”
Sara doubled over in laughter. “I’ve fucking heard it all now.” She wiped her eyes with a tissue.
Matt stood motionless.
“Wait, you’re serious?”
“I mean, why not? We’re made for each other.”
“Okay, first… this is getting kind of creepy. Secondly—”
“But creepy,” Matt said, motioning. “You like creepy, right?”
“I supposed I’ve had worse.”
“Then I got the job?”
“A for effort. F for fuck you.”
Matt threw his hands in the air. “You know what?”
“No, what?”
“I don’t need you.”
“Don’t flatter yourself, dear.”
“I’ll be over at eight.”
“Don’t be late.” Sara smiled.
