I’m breathing through a straw.
My heart is beating raw,
staring into an hourglass,
my life sifts through
what’s left of an evening of broken
glass, a book, and a black
candle remains unbothered.
The flickering of various shades outlines the silhouette
of a presence that I can feel.
Someone from another world hides behind your green eyes.
I’ve never closed my eyes to hear my heartbeat,
not until you held me so tight my ribs nearly popped.
