Can We Talk Again?

I’m in my head again,
working through what you
said again.
Tripping over your feet again.
Broken glass on the porcelain
again.
Throw me the keys again.
Don’t leave me again.
I’m begging like it’s all cool again.
Cigarettes cloud your
breath, but even then, I’ll
taste it again.
Liquor clogs your judgment
again.
You fell asleep before we could
speak again.
The sun sheds its light shadows between the blinds again.
I wake, knowing you’re gone again — with a
note saying you’ll return tonight again.
And then, we’ll talk again.
