The Kid & The Man

(Revised)

The kid sits on the corner, throwing his baseball in the air, waiting for the man his mom said wouldn’t show. Week even after week. The kid bounces the ball on the corner, waiting for the man. He doesn’t show. The kid waits for the man his mother promised him would never show. The kid waits for the man with his high school girlfriend, but he doesn’t show. A man waits for the man with his daughter; he doesn’t show. A man waits for the man whose hearse drives by the church. The kid in the man saw the man in the kid.
