“Not at all?” Shannon said.
“Love you? Are you talking to me?”
“Well?” Shannon crossed her arms, shifting her weight to her back foot. “Do you?”
“Going to slug me in the face if I don’t answer?”
Shannon grabbed a fistful of my shirt. “Don’t answer and find out, buddy.” Shannon grinned through crinkled eyes.
“Who’s to say?”
“Certainly not me.”
“It’s…”
“I don’t love you a little.”
“I knew it!” Shannon seethed.
“A lot,” I said. “I don’t love you a little; I love you a lot.”
